Do you have a sloper and not know what to do with it? Or do you frequently find yourself wanting to change the sleeve on a commercial pattern? Then this class is for you! In this class you will learn how to turn your sleeve sloper into eight different kinds of sleeves!

During this class we will be working in the half-scale (which means pattern pieces that are half the size of our actual patterns, this helps to cut down on paper waste and makes them easier to keep as samples) and we will be making eight different types of sleeves. They are the: petal, puff, flutter, bishop, bell, cap, raglan, and leg of mutton sleeves. After this class is over, it will be easy for you to go home and make these adjustments to your own real sleeve slopers!

You do not have to have a sloper in order to take this class. It is only helpful to have one so you can make these adjustments to one later. You can use these same techniques to alter sleeve patterns that you already have and like. During the class you will learn about how to move darts, truing patterns, marking grainlines, adding fullness, and creating cuffs. These skills will be super helpful as you continue your patternmaking journey either with more classes from Maya or on your own!

No prior experience in drafting is required, but it is recommended that you are a confident sewist able to easily follow a commercial pattern.

Paper to draft on, slopers to work from, and printed worksheets for your future reference will be provided!

Supplies: You will need to bring your own drafting materials, including: a measuring tape, rulers (a straight ruler, and a French curve, hip curve, and/or shoulder curve), paper scissors, pencils, erasers, and tape.  If you don't have these supplies, they are available for purchase at the shop, and there are some available for classroom use as well.

Time: This class will meet for two hours and there’s a lot to get to! Feel free to bring something to drink and/or a non-messy snack!
