If you've ever wanted to sew your own pair of jeans, but don't want them to look "home-made" and aren't sure where to start, then this class is just for you!
The Denim Lab: Jeans Making 101 with Jan is the perfect way to learn how to correctly choose your fabrics, learn to topstitch, rivet, and hem your jeans to get that professionally done look. We will cover how to sew zipper flys, set in rivets, when and where to topstitch with the thicker thread, and so much more! The class will cover fabric and pattern selection, and you will even receive help from Jamie & Elizabeth at the shop if you have any fit issues.
By the end of the class you should have a finished pair of jeans that are ready to strut the streets in! The class will begin on a Tuesday where we do an info session where we go over fabrics and patterns. This will be two days before the sewing starts so that way you can prewash your fabric and receive fitting help. If you would like help fitting your jeans, you can schedule a time with Jamie/Elizabeth at the shop to help tissue fit or muslin fit the jeans before the class starts. We will be sewing that Friday and Saturday on the jeans themselves, and the goal will be to have them finished by the end of the day Saturday! This means there will be a lot of sewing to do, and there will be time to each lunch - but it is not recommended to take an extended lunch if you want to finish your jeans.
Below is the class schedule and the supplies needed. We have classroom machines that you can use if you do not want to bring your own, please just let us know if you'd like to use them so we can have them set up for you!
Please let us know if you have any other questions, you can call us at (913)494-2656 or email us at info@legacyfabrics.com
