Learn to naturally dye fabrics with plants!
If you've ever wanted to get into natural dyeing, but just didn't know how to start, then this is the perfect class for you! During the class you will not only learn the ins and outs of natural dyeing, but you'll also get to naturally dye your own organic cotton tea towel with locally grown flowers! The class will go over the different colors plants will make, how to prep your fabrics for dye, as well as how to finish the textiles afterward so the dye sets. This whole process is food safe, so you won't need to go out and buy any special equipment!
This class will take about two-and-a-half-hours, and you'll receive an introduction to the world of natural dyes and create your own custom bundle-dyed organic cotton tea towel. Learn to create color using botanical items such as flower petals, grasses, wood shavings and more. All the supplies are included! Also covered will be proper fabric preparation and finishing your piece for maximum print durability.
Supplies: You don't need to bring anything! All the supplies will be included!
Time: This class will take about 2.5 hours and at the end of the class you will leave with your finished tea towel!
Your instructor: KP Mills is a natural dyer and textile artist who grows and forages many of her own dyes on her property south of Kansas City.
Class Cancellation Policy: Weather, Unexpected Events, and Travel Tips
Your safety and experience are very important to us. While we will do everything we can to keep classes running as planned, sometimes weather, illness, or unexpected events can cause changes. Here is how we handle those situations:
If We Need to Cancel
If bad weather makes it unsafe to hold the class, or if the instructor is unable to attend because of unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible, usually at least 24 hours before the class starts. In these situations, the class will be rescheduled. You’ll have a couple options if we need to cancel: join the rescheduled class, or get a full refund.
If you need to Cancel
Refunds are available until 24 hours before the class. If possible, we will try to reschedule the class at a different date and time to get you in!
