Mending Workshop at Legacy Fabrics
Mending Workshop at Legacy Fabrics
*Fabric is sold in 1/2 yard increments
With the textile industry wrecking havoc on our environment and landfills overflowing with apparel goods, it's so important to learn to save the clothes that we have and learn to alter them throughout our lives. If that's a skills set you are wanting to learn, then our Mending Workshop is perfect for you!
Here we will be learning to sew buttons on, patch holes in clothes, and to hem your pants or skirts! There are a few different types of buttons out there, so we will teach you how to sew on a 4-hole button, and a shank backed button. We will also show multiple different ways to patch or fix holes in clothes. Sometimes it needs to be backed by fabric, and sometimes a little tear just needs a few stitches. We will be showing how to do this both by hand and by machine! Then, we will also show how to hem your pants or skirts. Again, we will show you some hand sewing options and some by machine, and the different types of hems you can do!
These are skills that will last you a lifetime and will not only save textile waste from the landfills, but save you money too!
We ask that the minimum age is 8 years old - if younger we ask that an adult attends with them! Or we'd also be happy to do a private lesson! Just contact us to learn more!
