Elevate your hand sewn projects by learning the various applications of traditional stitches used in creating historical garments. Whether you are a complete sewing beginner looking to learn some new stitches or a historical costuming hobbyist wanting to practice your hand sewing, this class is right for you. Join us for four hours to slow down and appreciate the craft of hand stitching!

This workshop will cover the running stitch, back stitch, whip stitch, cross stitch, slip stitch, and hand sewn buttonholes. For each stitch, their different seaming, hemming, and gathering variations will be covered, and you'll leave with a hand sewing sampler showing sixteen different stitches. 

Prepared fabric for your sampler will be provided, so you just need to bring a hand sewing needle, thread, and snips or scissors! Beeswax for smoother stitching is optional for this workshop, but recommended if you intend to take on a larger handsewn project in the future

Supplies: The fabric for the class is provided. Please bring a hand sewing needle, thread, and snips. If you do not have these supplies they are available for purchase and classroom use at the shop.

Time: This class should take about 4 hours and is pretty relaxed! Feel free to bring something to drink or snack on!

 

 

Class Cancellation Policy: Weather, Unexpected Events, and Travel Tips

Your safety and experience are very important to us. While we will do everything we can to keep classes running as planned, sometimes weather, illness, or unexpected events can cause changes. Here is how we handle those situations:

If We Need to Cancel

If bad weather makes it unsafe to hold the class, or if the instructor is unable to attend because of unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you as soon as possible, usually at least 24 hours before the class starts. In these situations, the class will be rescheduled. You’ll have a couple options if we need to cancel:  join the rescheduled class, or get a full refund.

If you need to Cancel

Refunds are available until 24 hours before the class. If possible, we will try to reschedule the class at a different date and time to get you in!
