The Fowler Jacket is a versatile, gender-neutral outerwear pattern designed to deliver two distinct looks in one design. Sew either a warm, quilted jacket or a practical barn-style coat inspired by classic workwear. Fowler features an oversized, boxy silhouette with dropped shoulders, a two-piece sleeve, and a clean, bandless collar, making it ideal for layering and year-round wear. Finish your jacket with either buttons or snaps. View A is a traditional barn coat with double-layer patch pockets and a single chest pocket, finished with a sleeve hem facing, visible topstitching, and a classic pressed hem. View B is a quilted jacket with softly rounded patch pockets, finished with double-fold bias tape along all edges and hems for a clean, modern look.

Supplies:
- VIEW A - BARN COAT
- Mid- to heavyweight non-stretch wovens with structure, such as canvas, twill, denim, corduroy, or wool.
- VIEW B - QUILTED JACKET
- For a quick and easy make, choose a prequilted fabric or a substantial jacquard, brocade, or similarly beefy fabric that holds its shape without a batting layer.
- To create a quilted jacket:
- Outer and inner layer − light- to midweight woven fabrics such as cotton poplin, lawn, voile, chambray and broadcloth, or linen. Drapey fabrics are not recommended.
- Middle batting layer − quilt batting in cotton, bamboo, or wool.

VIEW B - QUILTED COAT - OUTER, INNER LAYER & BATTING
Sizes XXS-S = 2 yd (1.8 m), Sizes M-L = 2.5 yd (2.3 m), Sizes XL-6X = 2.75 yd (2.5 m). Please allow an extra 0.5 yd (0.5 m) if you're quilting your own fabric to account for the shrinkage that will occur due to the quilting process.
