Do you want to start designing your own patterns that are custom fit to you? Then look no further than this class! Every drafted pattern starts with a fitted sloper. A sloper is the most basic building block of a design; think of it like a master copy which everything is built off of. There are millions of different ways you can edit a sloper to get a different design, and the amazing thing is that as long as the sloper fits you, then so will your final design!
In this class you will learn the basics of drafting in only four weeks! No prior experience in drafting is required, but it is recommended that you are a confident sewist able to easily follow a commercial pattern.

You will learn how to take your measurements and translate them into a drafted basic bodice, skirt, and sleeve. Then you will mock up your slopers and get help fitting them and making the fit alterations to the pattern. You will leave this class then with three fitted slopers (front & back bodice, a sleeve, and a front & back skirt) that you can use as a jumping off point for your future pattern drafting endeavors.

Printed worksheets for your future reference will be provided!

Supplies: You will need to bring your own drafting and mock up materials. If you don't have these supplies, they are available for purchase at the shop, and there are some available for classroom use as well. These are the supplies: measuring tape, pattern paper, rulers (straight ruler, french curve/hip curve/shoulder curve), paper scissors, pencil, fabric shears, fabric for mock-ups (muslin, or muslin like as long as it's woven), and a sewing machine. If you you need to use a classroom sewing machine please just let us know and we will set one up for you!

Time: Tuesdays in April, (4/7, 4/14, 4/21, and 4/28) from 11am-1pm. This class will meet for two hours a week for four weeks. Some homework may be assigned! Feel free to bring something to drink and/or a non-messy snack!
