Teen's/Kid's Summer Sewing Camp

Join us for a whole week this June for our Teen's/Kid's Summer Sewing Camp!

If you have a kiddo or a teen who really wants to learn to sew, or already dibble dabbles and is looking to increase their skills and knowledge, then this is the perfect class for them! Here we will be spending the week learning a whole slew of different sewing techniques, learning about different fabrics and how to correctly choose them, mastering reading patterns and measuring ourselves, and working with both woven and knit fabrics. Everyday we will be practicing our new skills, and then apply them to the projects we are making: a bucket hat and a knit t-shirt!

Each day we will teach different steps of the sewing process that will get logged in a folder they will be given, so that they can look back and remember what they have practiced so later on it is easier for them to replicate at home! By the end of this camp they will be set up so they can tackle projects all on their own. We will also have time to answer any questions they may have about projects they want to start, or are having trouble on.

We will also be going through their entire machine from how to thread it, how to maintenance it, what all the different stitches are, and what you use them for. That way if they have never used their machine before, or only ever used the straight stitch, they will be really well acquainted with it!

For this class, all the fabrics and supplies are included, however if you would like to bring your own tools and fabrics you are more than welcome to! If you have a sewing machine we recommend bringing it so they can become familiar with it and can use it when they are at home. If bringing your own, we also ask that you bring any feet/accessories that came with it. This is so that we can help them identify what function they perform and how to use them. If you do not yet have a sewing machine, or it's not possible to bring one, then you can use our classroom ones!

Our day to day schedule is below, so keep reading for a further breakdown!

Patterns we are using (will be provided): Style Arc Hayden Teen's/Kid's Knit Tee, and Apple Gate Bucket Hat

Daily Schedule: lunch will be at 12:30pm

Tuesday: 11am-4pm how to use your machine: threading & stitches, basic sewing tools, basic seaming techniques, learning about the different fabrics, selecting fabric for bucket hat

Wednesday: 11am-4pm how to read patterns, how to cut out your fabric, start sewing bucket hat, select t-shirt fabric

Thursday: 11am-4pm Finish sewing hat if needed, more advanced seaming techniques, how to measure yourself & pick out pattern sizes, cut out t-shirt fabric

Friday: 11am-4pm start & finish sewing t-shirt, learning hand sewing techniques

There will be water, tea, and some snacks supplied during the class, but students should bring their lunches or have money to get lunch in the area. There are several restaurants within walking distance that we can accompany them to if they'd like to eat out.

We ask that the minimum age is 8 years old and the max is 20. If you have a kiddo younger we are happy to teach them in a private lesson, and if you're older reach out and we can work something out! Just contact us to learn more!
